International Conference on “Bamboo Composites”

Keeping in view the vast untapped potential of the bamboo sector and in order to boost value addiction of bamboo resources in the country, the Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Istitute (IPIRTI) was successfully organized a two-day International Conferences on Bamboo Composites at IPIRTI Conference Hall, Bangalore, India. This was a post workshop as a sequel to the five-day World Bamboo Workshop organized at Imphal, Manipur, India.

The conference was illuminated with international and national and chalked out the strategies for the sustainable growth of the bamboo industry and disseminated the information on the latest advances and future opportunities for the development of bamboo. The main objectives of the conference were:

  • To promote the development and implementation of bamboo composites
  • To establish value chain networks within and outside India and to allow better coordination and cooperation at the national, regional and international levels.
  • Take care to integrate the findings of the conference in the industrial perspective of National Bamboo Mission of India.

APAFRI had sponsored Prof. Dr. M. Al-Amin from Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFES) to participate in this event. He presented the paper titled “Quantifying Organic Carbon of Bamboo for Redd Plus: Perspective Bangladesh” as one of the key speaker.
